From a demolished wet market,
Shanghai's tucked-away queer spaces,
to algorithm-crafted digital cyberspaces
on social media,
Employing advanced quantitative, qualitative, ethnographic, participatory,
and community-engaged methods,
I unearth the hidden wisdom of everyday folks –
their "art of not being governed↗"
and how to co-create our public spaces.
I embarked on a year-long PEER Fellowship ,
and stationed in a rural high school with a non-governmental organization – doing social good through design thinking!
I made an idle classroom "public!" There,
I organized events on civic engagement, the SDGs,
localized community intervention strategies like the Living Library and Safe Zone training to rural China.
A big part of my work also involved fostering digital literacy. My media literacy education project has also got awarded for a Humanity in Action Fellowship.
Prior to my year in the field,
I wrote, filmed, and podcasted stories
that transcended boundaries of all kinds
- be they language, gender, class, nationality.
My words, podcast, and videos appeared
on SixthTone, PragueCast, among others.
My work was a continuous journey
towards envisioning and articulating a world
defined not by borders,
but by our shared humanity.
To me, food is a fascinating reflection of humanity –
it embodies the essence of freedom and diversity, much like each one of us.
I'm passionate about culinary experiments
as I blend ingredients from diverse cultures.
Recently, I tried to make some tangy Shandong-style pickled cucumber
with cuban "mojo" (citrus + garlic) marinade.
Stay tuned for Chef Nan's cosmopolitan recipe, coming soon.
I completed my education in three continents and four countries, with scholarship. I promise that I've learned a lot along the way, especially how to eat!!
I explore noodle eateries whenever I travel — savoring the culinary nuances that make these cosmopolitan carbohydrates-based thin strips distinct.
In my very first video editing internship, I tried to eat a lot of weird stuff in front of the camera.

By the way, I made these illustration of noodles via DALL·E 3. But as you might have noticed, this model presented some unexpected bias on Asian cuisine...even though I've tried my best to prompt!
